Mission pour l'informatisation du système de santé (MISS), Paris, France

The department in charge of the computerisation of the health system ("la Mission pour l'informatisation du système de santé" = MISS) is a structure of the Ministry in charge of employment and solidarity as well as the representative for the Ministry of Health. This structure has the duty of promoting and co-ordinating all the initiatives of the French state
authorities related to the introduction of new technologies for information and communication (NTIC) dealing with health and healthcare. The active axis of work are the following:

·the development of secured exchanges between professionals as well as towards medical insurance parties through the use of smart cards (insured cards VITALE, profession cards (CPS);the progressive implementation of electronic patient "dossier" suited for online consultation by authorised persons only; the development of a policy devoted to quality regarding the use of internet sites relating to medicine and healthcare.

The involvement of MISS into the WRAPIN project is done in close relationship with different initiatives that MISS itself already has established about the third axis here above mentioned with a special emphasis on "quality e-health" projects that MISS has initiated in France jointly with the national college of physicians. This project is jointly promoted with similar initiatives at the international level as well as similar initiatives already promoted by the European Union as well as the HON Foundation. It is intended to put at the disposal of the French as well as Francophone public electronic tools that could allow the automatic identification of reliable and trustworthy internet sites in the are of medical care and health.
